• Wayne County Prosecutor Releases Timeline, Details Charges In Serial Rape Cases

    From WCHB – 31-year-old Raynard Deshawn Coleman has been charged in several sexual assaults that allegedly occured on Detroit’s east side from January 1 through January 10, 2011.

    The following is a timeline of the cases and details on charges pertaining to each released to the media by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

    The following is an excerpt from a Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office press release dated January 24, 2011:

    January 1, 2011, 5:45 a.m. – An 18-year-old female was waiting at a bus stop at Seven Mile Road and Conant to go to her father’s house. Coleman (allegedly) approached, told her he had a gun, grabbed her and took her behind a vacant building. She fought with him, screamed and he ran away. A Good Samaritan took her to the police department for help.

    Coleman has been charged with Kidnapping, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; Assault with intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct – penetration; a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; Aggravated Assault, a misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail, and, as a Habitual Fourth Offender, which upon conviction would subject him to a sentence of any term of years up to life in prison.

    January 1, 2011, 6:15 a.m. – A 17-year-old female was waiting at a bus stop at Seven Mile Road and Gratiot to go to work. Coleman allegedly pointed a handgun at her and ordered her into his car. He took her to a location near Seven Mile Road and Hayes where he sexually assaulted her. He drove her to another location and released her.

    Coleman has been charged with Kidnapping, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; Criminal Sexual Conduct – Second Degree, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison; Assault with intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct – penetration; a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; Robbery, Armed; a felony punishable by life or any term of years in prison; Felon in Possession, a felony punishable by five years in prison, Felony Firearm, a felony punishable by a mandatory two years in prison consecutive to any other felony sentence, and, as a Habitual Fourth Offender, which upon conviction would subject him to a sentence of any term of years up to life in prison.

    January 4, 2011, 3:45 a.m. – A 26-year-old female was walking home from her brother’s house near Gratiot and Lynnhurst. Coleman allegedly approached her and indicated that he had a gun. He forced her to an alley where he sexually assaulted her. Coleman ran away and she was assisted by a cab driver.

    Coleman has been charged with Kidnapping, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; and, as a Habitual Fourth Offender, which upon conviction would subject him to a sentence of any term of years up to life in prison.

    January 6, 2011, 11:00 p.m. – A 19-year-old female victim was walking to a friend’s house on the 18000 block of Schoenherr. She was allegedly approached by Coleman who sexually assaulted her and then ran away. She was assisted by an attendant at a gas station.

    Coleman has been charged with Kidnapping, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; Robbery, Armed; a felony punishable by life or any term of years in prison; Felon in Possession, a felony punishable by five years in prison, Felony Firearm, a felony punishable by a mandatory two years in prison consecutive to any other felony sentence, and, as a Habitual Fourth Offender, which upon conviction would subject him to a sentence of any term of years up to life in prison.

    January 8, 2011, 4:30 a.m. – A 20-year-old female was driving to work at I-94 and Cadieux when Coleman bumped her car. She exited her vehicle to check for damage. When she found no damage, she turned to walk away and Coleman allegedly forced her into his car at gunpoint. He took her to an alley where he sexually assaulted her.

    Coleman has been charged with Kidnapping, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; Robbery, Armed; a felony punishable by life or any term of years in prison; Felon in Possession, a felony punishable by five years in prison, Felony Firearm, a felony punishable by a mandatory two years in prison consecutive to any other felony sentence, and, as a Habitual Fourth Offender, which upon conviction would subject him to a sentence of any term of years up to life in prison.

    January 10, 2011, 7:40 p.m. – A 17-year-old female was walking home from a bus stop at Charleston and Robinwood when Coleman allegedly approached her and forced her to a vacant garage at gunpoint. He sexually assaulted her and ran away.

    Coleman has been charged with Kidnapping, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; Assault with intent to rob while armed, a felony punishable by life or any term of years in prison; Felon in Possession, a felony punishable by five years in prison, Felony Firearm, a felony punishable by a mandatory two years in prison consecutive to any other felony sentence, and, as a Habitual Fourth Offender, which upon conviction would subject him to a sentence of any term of years up to life in prison.
