January 23, 2012 – Detroit, MI. – Detroit film maker Larry Simmons horror film “Locked in a Room”, has been selected to screen at the prestigious San Diego Black Film Festival on Friday January 27th, 2012 at 7.30 pm.
The screening will be at the Reading Cinemas in San Diego, California. “Locked in a Room” stars Robert Miano, Carlucci Weyant, DJ Perry, and Rae’ven Larrymore Kelly. The San Diego Black Film Festival was established in 2002 and continues to showcase new, ground breaking films from the film community. “Locked in a Room” writer/director, Larry Simmons produced the film with Gordon Djordjevski, DJ Perry, and Phyllis Larrymore Kelly under his At Risk Entertainment banner.
The San Diego Black Film Festival takes place from January 26th to January 29th 2012 with the Awards dinner and Gala hosted by Robin Givens.

ABOUT LARRY D. SIMMONS
Larry Simmons was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Mackenzie High School, and Wayne State University. He began his film career with two friends who were NFL football players in the mid 90’s, Derek Carr and Terry Crews. They worked together on an independent film that eventually gave Terry Crews his start in Hollywood. Larry entered The HBO/Miramax Films backed Project Greenlight in 2004. Also in 2004 he was selected as a Top 250 Director with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Project Greenlight. In October 2011, his screenplay “Top Dog World” was a semi-finalist in the LA Screenplay competition.
