George ZimmermanA man simply known as witness #6, who first claimed that he was positive George Zimmerman, 28, was the one screaming for help on the night that he gunned down 17-year-old Trayvon Martin as he was walking home, changed his story when he spoke with investigators, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

“At first, I thought it was the person on the ground, just because, you know, me thinking rationally, if someone was on top, the person on the bottom would be yelling,” he said, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. “I truly can’t tell who, after thinking about it, was yelling for help just because it was so dark out on that sidewalk. You can’t see a mouth …”

The man confessed his misleading interpretation of the events on the night of February 26, 2012, to FDLE Investigator John Batchelor, on March, 20. The information is just being released to the public, along with a flurry of other evidence, including the autopsy report and 7-11 video surveillance.

Witness #6 still did not change his story that  he saw Trayvon straddling Zimmerman, and that he yelled for both of them to stop but they didn’t. He claims, “I thought it was two dogs fighting.”

Regardless of the fact that Trayvon very well may have been in a fight for his life, court documents, which include 183 pages of documents, witness statements and other material, show that, their fatal interaction was “ultimately avoidable” by Zimmerman.

Time will tell what this change means for the case, but at this point, it is clear that if one witness lied on Zimmerman’s behalf, there was more than likely more who did the same.
