Search for Corktown Inn murder suspect

DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -There are 30 security cameras inside the Corktown Inn watching every nook and cranny.  It is how police obtained a photo of a man wanted for murdering a 21-year-old woman around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

“He asked for Room 121,” said Chester Mirowski.  “They shot her in the head, and they killed her right away.”

He has owned the Corktown Inn for years and has never had something like this happen before.

The victim is Ninoshka Nieves-Figueroa, a mother of two small children from southwest Detroit.

Her brother last saw her Thursday afternoon.  Sometime that night she checked into the hotel.  Sources said she may have been working as an escort.  Friday morning she was murdered.

“It was weird because that Friday she never called me,” Eduardo Rivera said.  “I was calling her.  She would never answer.”

“I just want justice for my daughter,” said Mercedes Figueroa, the victim’s mother.

“The first time I [saw] her,” Mirowski said.  “She never was in here before.”

At the hotel Monday morning, the window of Room 121 was being replaced.  Inside there were bright red blood stains on the carpet and what appeared to be two bullet holes in the door.

Mirowski is hopeful the surveillance image will help catch a killer and give the victim’s family some closure.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
