BIRTHPLACE OF THE “I HAVE A DREAM” SPEECH

The icon Martin Luther King, Jr. with Tony Brown, coordinator of what
was reported by Business Week magazine as “the largest civil rights march in
history” that drew between 250,000 – 500,000 in Detroit, Michigan on June
23, 1963. It is believed to have been the first event at which the great civil
rights leader delivered his famous “I Have A Dream” speech. The Detroit
event took place 66 days before he repeated the now-famous “I Have A
Dream” performance at the March On Washington spectacle in D. C. on
August 28, 1963 that drew an estimated 250,000.

In 2013, the 50th anniversary of these and other little-known facts of
