Award-winning artist Charles Bibbs will have original works of art featured at the Sherwood Forest Art Gallery on Friday, June 21stthrough Sunday, June 23rd. Sherwood Forest Art Gallery is located at 19500 Livernois Ave., Detroit, Michigan 48221.
The schedule for the weekend-long event is as follows:
• Friday, June 21st: Welcoming Reception (5-9PM)
• Saturday, June 22nd: Get to Know Charles Bibbs (11AM-6:30PM)
• Sunday, June 23rd: Last Chance to Meet Charles Bibbs (1PM-5PM)
The Sherwood Forest Art Gallery carries a wide variety of artistic styles, from modernist depictions of Picasso to primitive, religious and cultural art. Bibbs’ works of art will be on display and available for purchase throughout the weekend. Bibbs has founded organizations such as Art 2000 Visual Arts Association, Art on Tour, Images Magazine, and The Inland Empire Music and Arts Foundation. Through the founding of these organizations, Bibbs has been a consistent supporter of numerous youth organizations and young artists.He also owns his own corporation, B Graphics and Fine Arts, which has been acknowledged as one of the leading publishers and distributors of art.
Over the last 30 years of his art career, Charles Bibbs has received over 100 awards and recognitions as well as having his work featured in films, television, books and on CD covers, remaining one of the leading African-American artists of the country. Steve Harvey, Queen Latifah, T’keyah Kemah and Smokey Robinson are just a few celebrities who collect Bibbs’ work. Other notable collectors are The University of Arizona and Fox Searchlight Pictures for the film “The Secret Life of Bees.”
