176638175On the heels of Huntington Bank’s recently announced $5 million small business loan initiative, LifeLine Business Consulting Services will host a free entrepreneurial orientation at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Tech Town, 440 Burroughs St. in Detroit. The orientation will show entrepreneurs how to start and grow companies through business development, coaching, and capital.

LifeLine is part of a Micro Loan Fund Collaborative, including Detroit Micro Enterprise Fund, Detroit Development Fund (DDF) and Michigan Women’s Foundation, which stresses lending to women and minority-owned, small companies.
“As non-traditional loans become available, it is important that small businesses in Detroit are able to take advantage of the funding opportunities, in particular when they are denied by banks,” says Nicole Huffman, president of LineLine Business Consulting Services. “When business owners have the right tools and proper funding, they can take their companies to the next level and truly make an impact on the surrounding communities.”
To date, LifeLine has coached more than 100 entrepreneurs in creating business plans and collateral materials, in preparation of submitting loan applications. December’s orientation is phase one of LifeLine’s symposium series.
LifeLine client Erin Page, owner of E & S Uniforms and Apparel in Detroit, hosted Huntington’s Nov. 4 announcement of a $25 million program to support small business lending throughout Michigan, with $5 million designated for Detroit entrepreneurship. The initiative was launched in cooperation with Huntington Bank, Michigan Economic Development Corp., Pure Michigan Micro Lending, and DDF.
“It’s exciting,” says Page. “LifeLine’s guidance in getting access to these funds will help level the playing field for companies like mine.”
Due to limited space at the Dec. 10 event, reservations are required. Light refreshments will be served.
