It was back in February that Livonia Churchill (Mich.) junior offensive lineman, Nick Davis earned his first college offer when he received a Facebook message from Coach James Gibson offering him a full ride scholarship to play football at Kentucky Christian University. Since that time, it’s safe to say that Davis’s increasing college interest has continued to grow.

As of right now, Davis is gaining increasing interest from Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Michigan state, Toledo, Bowling Green, Kent State, Ohio, Ball State, Indiana and Pittsburgh. While he has yet to receive any offers from these schools yet, Davis says he is grateful to be in contact with these various schools and he hopes to receive more offers soon.

“I like every school that has been in contact with me at this point.” Davis said. “I would be grateful to receive an offer from any of these schools because they are all great academia institutions and they all have great football programs. It’s just a matter of continuing to work hard and being patient.”

This past Saturday, Davis visited the University of Cincinnati and while he didn’t walk away with an offer, he feels the visit was a great experience and could eventually lead to an offer.

“I really enjoyed my visit at Cincinnati.” Davis replied. “During the visit, the academic supervisors talked to the whole group there, we went to watch practice, we toured the facilities and I got a chance to talk with the coach who was recruiting me. Overall, I really liked the facilities, the coaching staff and the atmosphere surrounding the program. The facilities were state of the art and the weight room was massive at 22,500 square feet.”

“When it comes them offering me, Cincinnati is a school that waits for most recruits to go to camp before they offer. The offensive line coach told me that he will evaluate me for a scholarship at camp, so an offer is a great possibility in the future.”

At 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, there is no doubt that an offer could be a possibility for Davis and not just from Cincinnati either because according to Davis, he has more upcoming college visits in the next few weeks.

“At this time, I will be visiting Bowling Green on April 5th, Eastern Michigan on April 12th, Pittsburgh on April 13th, Western Michigan on April 19th and probably Indiana and Ball State during spring break. I am also trying to go to Toledo, I just haven’t set a date yet.”

Keep in mind, Davis isn’t just focus on earning more college offers, he is also focus on improving his overall play on the field and helping his team the Livonia Churchill Chargers get back to the playoffs after going through a tough 2-7 season last year.

“Right now, I am working on becoming more explosive, flexible, stronger, faster and an overall well-rounded football player.” Davis said. “Some of my goals for my upcoming season is to become first team All-State, Detroit Free Press Dream Team, and win a state championship.”

One thing’s for sure, whoever garners a commitment from Davis when the time comes will be very lucky. However, until the time comes for Davis to commit, he plans to continue enjoying the recruiting process and when the time is right, he will make the best college decision for him.

“I am really enjoying the recruiting process. Davis replied. “It is a lot of fun going to all of the schools, checking out what each one has to offer, and it’s a great feeling knowing that a coach thinks that you are good enough athletically and academically to be a student athlete for them.”

“I have no idea when I will commit to a school. If the school has great things to offer on and off the field and is the right fit for me, then I will commit there because at the end of the day I want to commit to a  school that has a great football program, a well-known school academically and a school that is the right for me in every way possible.”
