Philadelphia 76ers v Los Angeles LakersAfter being overlooked in the 2014 NBA Draft draft, University of Cincinnati’s Sean Kilpatrick arrived at the NBA summer league looking to prove that he deserves an opportunity to play in the NBA next season. After a providing plenty of consistent and good performances for the Sixers’ summer-league team, the un-drafted rookie just might get his chance to play in the NBA.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Yonkers, N.Y., finished summer league with an average of 11 points per game, which was third best on the Sixers behind second-round pick Jordan McRae and center Nerlens Noel. Then if that’s not enough to impress you, just go back to his time at Cincinnati. The first-team all-American, finished his college career as the second-leading scorer in Cincinnati’s history behind Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and he helped to lead Cincinnati to four straight NCAA Tournaments, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2012.

Nevertheless, for the time being Kilpatrick remains in a holding pattern as various NBA teams assess their needs. Although, he is busy working-out and getting ready for the upcoming season, Kilpatrick took the time to speak with me on Tuesday evening about his ongoing journey to earn an NBA spot.

During the interview, we talk about him going un-drafted in the 2014 NBA Draft along with his great NBA summer league play with the Sixers. We go on to discuss what he brings to the NBA and how he differs from other rookies. We even discuss his time at Cincinnati and the fact that he is unique from so many other players, because he comes into the NBA with four years of college basketball under his belt.
