The Detroit Chapter of Dads Club, Inc. will host the 5th Annual Father Daughter Dinner Dance on June 15, 2013 from 6:00pm – 10:00pm @The PI Banquet Center in Southfield , Michigan.
Detroit has partnered with organizations in other cities to also hold a national Father and Daughter Dance on June 15th father’s day weekend including New York, Charlotte, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
Dads Club, Inc. recognizes the significant relationship between fathers and daughters and created this opportunity for dads to connect with their daughters, and establish a level of expectation for social interactions.
“It is the responsibility of the men in our communities to help fill the void of those who are absent,” said Ray Solomon, chair of the Detroit Dad’s Club. “Our children need to know they are not alone.”
Dad’s Club Inc. has partnerships with the Detroit International Academy for Young Women, Sigma Gamma Rho sorority, and 100 Black Men of Greater Detroit, who will also serve as surrogate escorts for the young ladies of various ages and backgrounds where a father or father figure is not present. This year’s special invited guests are Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence and Harvey Hollins III, Director from the Governor’s Office of Urban & Metropolitan Initiatives.
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority will be donating gowns, dresses, shoes, handbags as well as volunteering their services to pamper the ladies with free manicures, facials, hair makeovers and even limousine service to and from the dance. Aaron Sanders of Heavenly Chicken and Waffles and William Hamlin Expedite Express have also sponsored 10 young ladies and their escorts to attend the dance.
