Last night, two Detroit officers were shot while on duty in the west side. Since the shooting, a suspect has been arrested.

Raymond Durham, 60, was caught by enforcement within a few blocks of where the shooting occurred. According to Detroit Police Chief James Craig, the suspect was stopped around 8:15pm during a routine check in a drug influenced area. When asked for his ID by the officers, he pulled out a gun, shooting one officer in the ankle and the other in the neck. Body armor protected one officer from two bullets to the torso. Both are listed as critical condition. Chief James Craig says “the early diagnosis is he’s going to be OK,” when speaking about the officer who was hit in the neck.

After the capture, Durham had a gun wound to his leg, which he states happened during the initial incident and not the capture. He has since been rushed to Henry Ford Hospital.
